Co-Founder & Editor in Chief (Health & Wellbeing Researcher – MSc(Nutr,Diet & ExRehab), BSc (ExSc&Nutr))

I am the resident Health & Wellbeing Researcher – MSc(Nutr,Diet & ExRehab), BSc (ExSc&Nutr), an Exercise Physiologist and Dietitian who started life as a sporty kid who ate cakes from my father’s bakery almost daily. In time I realised there were better dietary habits. During one of the nerdiest chapters of my life, constantly sitting at a desk aggravated my back, which led to the discovery that I have scoliosis. Now, I may be slightly addicted to the feeling being active and healthy gives me (and my back). Also, to bananas.

These experiences, and the fascinating things I learnt in the Bachelors and Masters degrees, have made me passionate about helping myself and other people improve their lives through health. The quality of the teachers who led me through my dual qualifications also meant I left with a good grounding in general health sciences, and equipped with tools to critically assess and interpret new information and research.

I am the odd kind of scientist who has an affinity for understanding the workings of the human body, to the exclusion of almost everything else in the universe. I like running, being outdoors and dancing poorly. Any intentional twisting of information to mislead people about health, particularly when motivated by financial gain, really gets my goat. I am interested in holistic health, harmonising the relationship between people and the environment to the benefit of both, and am open to the potential of complementary/alternative medicine- although my default position on any new health claim tends to be highly sceptical, unless it is backed by scientific rigour. Now, I am going off to eat a banana.
